Getting to Barcelona

By air, by rail,or by road.

✈️
By Air — Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN)
Direct flights from most major hubs. Barcelona–El Prat is one of Europe's busiest airports with direct routes from London, Dubai, New York, Singapore, Delhi, São Paulo, and most major European cities. The airport is 13km from the city centre — approximately 30 minutes by taxi (€30–35) or 35 minutes on the Aerobus (€5.90). The L9 Sud metro line also connects the airport directly to central Barcelona. Book flights early — August is peak travel season across Europe.
🚄
By Rail — Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gràcia
High-speed rail from Madrid (2h30) and Paris (6h30). Spain's high-speed AVE network connects Barcelona to Madrid in under 3 hours. Eurostar and TGV connect Paris via the high-speed rail corridor. Barcelona has two main rail stations — Sants (main terminal) and Passeig de Gràcia (central). Both are within 15 minutes of most hotels by taxi or metro.
🚇
Getting Around Barcelona
Metro, taxi, and walking. Barcelona has an excellent metro system — the L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5 lines cover virtually the entire city. T-Casual 10-trip cards (€12.15) are the best value for short stays. Taxi apps including Uber and Cabify operate across the city. The convergence venue and most recommended hotels are in areas that are walkable between each other in good August weather.
🌡️
Weather in August
Hot and dry. August in Barcelona averages 28–32°C daytime, 22–24°C evenings. Humidity is moderate. The city is at peak summer — evenings are warm and comfortable. Light business attire is appropriate during the day. The convergence venue will be air-conditioned throughout. Pack light layers for the air-conditioned sessions and comfortable warm-weather clothing for the evenings.
