Weeks of preparation have established the framework for the Barcelona Assembly. The Programme Book has been published. Participants have been reviewed. Deliberations have been organised.
One element, however, cannot be written in advance.
Every Assembly is ultimately defined by the quality of its conversations. The most carefully designed programme cannot anticipate the insight that emerges when experienced professionals challenge one another’s assumptions across jurisdictions, professions and institutions.
It is those unscripted moments that often shape the lasting legacy of international gatherings.
Whether the Barcelona Assembly produces new partnerships, institutional initiatives or future programmes will depend on discussions that have yet to take place.
For now, the architecture is complete. The questions have been framed. The participants are preparing to arrive.
Everything else begins when the Chair calls the Assembly to order.
