Behind Closed Doors, Preparations for the Barcelona Assembly Enter Their Final Phase

The public sees an Assembly begin when delegates take their seats. For the organising teams, it begins months earlier.
Preparations for the Barcelona Assembly have now entered what organisers describe as the programme’s final operational phase. Speaker confirmations are being concluded, deliberation papers are undergoing editorial review and institutional briefings are being circulated among participating leaders.
At the same time, review committees continue examining participant profiles before issuing final confirmations. Invitations remain linked to verification, ensuring that every confirmed participant has completed the Assembly’s institutional review process.
Attention has also shifted towards procedural preparation. Chairs, rapporteurs and programme coordinators are finalising the sequence through which deliberations will unfold over two days.
Unlike conventional conferences where logistics dominate the closing weeks, much of the Assembly’s activity remains intellectual. Ǫuestions are refined. Background papers are edited. Deliberations are tested to ensure that each session contributes to the wider institutional record.
When delegates eventually arrive in Barcelona, much of the Assembly’s most demanding work will already have taken place behind the scenes.
