For months, the Barcelona Assembly has existed as a programme, a process and a promise. Its pages have outlined questions. Review committees have assessed participants. Editorial teams have refined deliberations. Institutions have confirmed their representatives.
Preparations have unfolded quietly, largely away from public view. Tomorrow, those preparations become a working Assembly.
For two days, professionals representing different jurisdictions and disciplines will occupy the same room, examining questions that cannot be answered by any single institution acting alone.
The Programme Book will provide the structure; the participants will provide the substance.
The significance of the Assembly will not be measured by attendance or ceremony. It will be measured by whether the conversations that begin in Barcelona continue long after delegates have returned home.
